The Richard White Porcelain 8" Bowl in Emerald is created in high fired porcelain and can be used in your microwave , oven or dishwasher. Of course there is no lead in the glaze so it is safe to use with food everyday. It is about 8" in diameter, and 3½” - 4” tall. Notice that it has been given Richard White's signature exaggerated thickness on the lip of the bowl for easier handling, and so it can defend itself in the real world, as well as his glazed finished foot styling so it won’t scratch your fine furniture or granite counters. The swirling, springy shape of the beautiful bowl reminds one of the performance of his hands giving shape to a lump of porcelain clay on the potter’s wheel.
The Richard White Porcelain 8" Bowl in Emerald is an essential tool in the kitchen of that wonderful cook in your life, perhaps you, and at the same time a beautiful porcelain sculpture that will enhance the presentation of culinary works of art – I can totally see a fabulous ice cream Sunday in this bowl, (but not for long :) Each piece made is a one of a kind, hand made creation. It is thrown on a wheel, no mold is ever used. It is a live performance frozen in time by the fires of its creation. It is shaped by Richard White's hands and heart that have given form to clay for over thirty five years.
The dramatic effect of each glaze comes from his experience mixed with the particular character of the 2300 degree fire that gave it life. Each bowl is fused into a living stone so hard it can endure, untouched by time, for thousands of years.
